As we traveled in 80 degree F. weather, March 11, I realized I have never blogged our ordinary, typical desert skies. So, with my sport setting I captured skies I have treasured all my life as a native Arizonan. (of course my treasured desert skies always blend with the saguaro cactus.)

This is the beautiful sunset seen when arriving in the valley after going through a harrowing rain storm from Payson to Sunflower. Later that evening the storm arrived in Gilbert where we were so glad to be safely inside our home.

Though it looks stormy, the heat is actually very dry at approximate 110 degrees F.

December Storms on Highway 93

Our six hour trip home to Phoenix from Las Vegas was full of amazing skies as a cold winter storm had moved in that day. As we left Las Vegas, we traveled amidst the clouds, which were low and all around us.We seemed to follow the storms all along the way as the highways had obviously had huge downpours of rain and the fields were full of puddles and rain lakes, but we were never rained on. We arrived home to a beautiful Arizona sunset. Like life, the beauties always follow the storms.

A few mornings ago we were startled to awaken to what looked like a range of mountains off to the West, rising even as the Sun rose in the East. Arizona skies are magical!

The streets of Gilbert were wet from a little morning rain - the clouds looked like winter - it was cold enough to freeze our garden peppers and tomatoes and cause us desert rats to reach for blankets and jackets.

When artist spouse, Marty, said, "Grab your camera - there's a beautiful sunrise!" I ignored him for a few minutes - just too early to move fast. Well, every minute counts when the sky is being photographed in the dawn or dusk of the day. It's amazing to watch the changing colors from minute to minute....then suddenly the moments of color are gone and the skies are grey. Life, like the sky, is so amazing - the moments change so quickly, and if not noticed and appreciated turn grey. Even though there is a weather alert today for extreme wind, dust, and bad air, the day began calm and beautiful with the great art work in the sky of the creator.
