Farewell for 18 months
I will be away from my beloved Arizona skies for the next 18 months serving a church mission in Nebraska. I will return December 2013.

Sunflower Wildfire Arizona Skies
Today the skies in Star Valley were 3/4 covered with thick smoke from the wildfire near Sunflower. It looked like an strange scene out of a science fiction movie. The sun actually glowed red as evening approached. The fire is some 20 miles southeast of where we live.

Snow, Snow, Snow!
For a transplanted desert rat, this snow storm (10 inches so far) is formidable. We are on our 2nd day of being housebound as roads and highways are only available to vehicles with chains or 4 wheel drive. Thankfully we stocked up with groceries on Saturday as the storm came in that night.
The skies are mostly gray - yesterday snow flurries all day - but today a bit of sunshine found a cheerful path, creating a magical and isolated kingdom of imaginary creatures. (We actually found animal footprints leading from our gazebo in the front yard to the car shed in the back yard. Marty says it looked like a fox tramped through the yard).

September Snowflake Sunsets
Beautiful Snowflake, Arizona skies in the September evening
Sunset beauty equal to the Valley of the Sun
Digital fun! World of magic!
We actually saw an elk near this view up on the Mogollon Rim as the sun set in it's final moments of glory!
